I've no idea Gary, sorry
I know fuck all about hip hop/rap from the past 15 years - what I've heard is dreadful. Shit beats and rubbish skills.

I'm afraid I've steered things on to music chat
right from the off - someone's gonna take a swipe at me.

Well, the fact he won an award traditionally given to investigative journalists
tells me that his album may be more of an essay, so I'll check it out and report back. I would also like to point out I prefer essays to hip hop so this will be an interesting exercise (I do quite like Dangermouse & Gemini though).

no he won the one for music not journalism

Do they even have one of those?
how boring. I thought he'd branched out and found some way of splicing reportage into his songs - was looking forward to huge swathes of news and reporting. How disappointing.

I was about to suggest listening to it as the best way to establish if you'd like it or not

I think it's a good album, I like his style and voice, and his narrative is refreshing

never heard any of his stuff but banned poster Dozer said he was good so I assumed he wasn't
