Trying to make two arduinos communicate wirelessly (433mhz)
I also need to box up your fuel tank properly cos the bloke sent it to me in a thin box wrapped in clingfilm, as if that was enough protection.

There's no great rush, I've put the tank from the other one on for the minute as it's not built.
People love to ship parts poorly, I got an abs pump unit from a bloke in just one of those padded post bags. Thing was completely broken when I arrived.

My brother is getting in to arduino stuff, he's trying to get it to work some of lighting cues for him so he can slope off for a coffee.

In my experience, I'd never trust them for a proper industrial application
They seem to crash at the oddest moments for no reason. But they're a decent little toy, and the shit I learn actually helps me at work so it's sometimes worth the frustration.

Fair enough, it would just be triggering switches during a play, but if they crash at odd times it'd be no good.

If it's only for a play and it's nothing complex, a few hours shouldn't be an issue
I've read of people using them in 2Can-esque ways, measuring temps and humidity in greenhouses all through winter with no issues.

He is fairly tech savvy, so he'll figure it out.
The more he can automate, the more complicated the light shows and sound triggers can be without having to pay for a second person to sit on a second desk.

I feel kind of bad that I work as an engineer in a cutting-edge tech firm
and yet have never felt the slightest impulse to mess around with Arduinos or Raspberries or Loganberries or any of that jazz.

My brother-in-law is quite into it and he's got a humanities background, for crying out loud.
